New policy on the notification of new information by the authorisation holder of a plant protection product

From the beginning of 2024 authorisation holders of a plant protection product need only submit a notification form in case of new available information relating to a lack of expected efficacy, the development of resistance and to any unexpected effect on plants, plant products or the environment. And they will no longer receive an annual letter to remind them of this obligation.

If an authorisation holder has new information about the effects of their plant protection product or biocide, they are obligated to notify this new information to the Ctgb.

In case of plant protection products information that indicates a lack of expected efficacy or possible development of resistance or unexpected effects on plants or the environment needs to be notified at least once a year. New information which indicates that there may be an adverse effect on humans, animals or the environment must always be notified immediately.

In case of biocides both new information on a lack of expected efficacy, development of resistance and new information which indicates that there may be an adverse effect on humans, animals or the environment must always be notified to Ctgb immediately.

New policy annual notification plant protection products

Ctgb has adopted a new policy for the annual notification of lack of expected efficacy or development of resistance for plant protection products. Up until 2024 authorisation holders received a letter and a form requesting them to submit the annual notification  also when there were no new data to report.

Since the start of 2024 authorisation holders need only submit an annual notification form when there is new information to report concerning a lack of expected efficacy or development of resistance. The Ctgb will publish a reminder in the March e-zine newsletter to remind authorization holders of their obligation. Annual notifications can be submitted to Ctgb throughout the year.

Attention : new information which indicates that there may be an adverse effect on humans, animals or the environment must always be notified immediately.

These obligations result from article 56 of Regulation EU/1107/2009 and article 47 of Regulation EU/528/2012.

Notifications should be submitted by sending the notification form to Ctgb by email through post@ctgb.nl. It is also possible to request an upload link for the submission of your notification.
